Every ‘vet mate’ you speak with is an experienced, registered Australian veterinarian. We can guarantee they will be friendly, caring and helpful, with 5-10+ years of experience in caring for pets.

Our $68 consult fee covers one pet health concern and includes real-time text with an Aussie vet with no time limit - that’s right - we are here to chat with you until your questions are answered and issue resolved!

You can easily connect with a ‘Vet mate’ between 6am-10pm AEST, 7 days a week.

Our extended hours allow us to ensure we are there for you and your pets, when local veterinary clinics may be closed.

We know life gets busy, so if you can’t reply straight away, no worries! We won’t disappear. You can chat with us flexibly until your issue is resolved. If things go quiet, our team will check in and guide you on the next steps.

Our team love and are experienced with all kinds of household pets such as cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, reptiles, guinea pigs, rats and mice. We welcome pets in all stages of life, from baby animals through to the senior citizens.

Animals are all unique, so you can imagine, the questions our team receives are incredibly diverse!

We are able to assist best with the following broad categories:

• Pet emergency triage (e.g. chocolate ingestion). Our team will triage the problem and advise if an urgent visit to a local veterinarian is necessary, as well as any first aid you may be able to provide at home

• All kinds of general pet advice such as health-related (e.g. itchy skin), behaviour (e.g. house soiling) or nutrition

• New pet consultations - need help integrating a new adopted pet into the family? We are here for you! We are also here to guide you, and provide expert advice on the best pet for you and your lifestyle before you adopt.

• Further support service - sometimes our pet’s medical issues can be confusing and complex! Our team can help provide clarity and more information on your pet’s existing health condition, and support on any aspects that feel confusing.

  In the interest of your pet’s overall health, we prefer to do this in collaboration with your pet’s regular veterinarian.

Your pet’s health always comes first — and sometimes that means seeing your regular vet in person.

While we’re here to offer trusted advice and support, My Vet Mate is not a replacement for hands-on care. If it’s in your pet’s best interest to be seen in-clinic, we’ll let you know — and help make that next step as smooth as possible.

With your okay, we’ll send a personalised veterinary triage report straight to you and your chosen vet, so they’re fully across what we’ve discussed.

While we’re not a substitute for in-person vet care, we can help you make confident decisions when something’s on your mind.

Here’s how we guide you and broadly triage your concerns:

• "Don’t go, mate" – We’ll give you practical tips to help you manage things safely at home.

• "Go soon, mate" – We’ll recommend booking an appointment with your regular vet sometime soon.

• "Mate, go now!" – If we think it’s urgent, we’ll let you know it’s time to head to a vet straight away.

No stress, no second-guessing — just clear advice from experienced vets who’ve got your back.

To give your pet our full attention, we focus on one furry friend at a time.
Each consultation covers questions relating to one health concern, for one pet. This is so we can provide thoughtful, tailored advice without distraction.

At this stage, we are unable to prescribe medications, or refill prescriptions for your pet.

Pets on medication need regular check-ups to stay safe and well — and that’s something best handled in person with your regular vet.

We genuinely care about how things are going after our chat.

If needed, we may send you a follow-up text within 24 hours, just to check in and see how you and your pet are doing.
